I'm an engineer, and I'm taking this history class for GE, I did not do so well on the first exam, got a D. I guess I am not used to this professor's style of lecturing...

How bad does a No Pass look for applying to graduate school?
I still have plenty of time before I graduate so it wouldn't hurt me too much if I just drop it and try another GE class in the future...
But if it doesn't affect me at all, I could try my best and see if I can pull off a C...

It shows that not only were you not challenging yourself enough to take it for letter (which usually doesn’t matter with GE’s), you failed to even do the bare minimum to pass a course.

Just pass it and talk to the prof if you are close.

If the rest of your grades are decent, you have some impressive research, and good letters of rec, a NP in an unrelated general education class doesn’t matter.

I got a NP in LIGN 7, applied to graduate programs in biochemistry, still got in. They never mentioned it at interviews, either.
