NPC, Self Employed, Merit Scholarships, Totally Overwhelmed

DD17, 35 ACT with 36 STEM composite, 5.2 GPA, Double varsity athlete, 150+ hours of community service in high school, very unusual hobbies, lots of EC’s, published poet, etc. Both my husband and I are self employed as consultants (our businesses have 1 and 2 employees). DD17 school does not do a class rank but is ranked one of the top 10 HS in the nation. 163K AGI. Have another child who will be in college in 3 years.

I have run the NPC on dozens of Universities and we can’t afford anything (except maybe Princeton - which we know is unrealistic because their acceptance rate is so low like other Ivy’s). Most NPC’s, if not the vast majority, do not ask for GPA or ACT scores. I am trying to get a handle on how much merit aid might be possible on top of what the NPC (EFC) dollar amount. We live in a state that has very poor state schools and our state University is more expensive than most privates. I have been reading how inaccurate the NPC is for people who are self employed which makes this whole process even worse.

Anyone out there with similar stats that could share with me your experience with merit base awards and your final EFC?

Forgot to mention that she is team captain and has developed educational programs that have run in her school so she has leadership too.

Hi. Don’t panic. First, when is your daughter graduating HS? You said DD17, which means she should have graduated LAST year.
