NPC vs. EFC

What’s the difference between your NP and EFC??

Also, for need-aware colleges that have a tuition of $70,000+, what would be a good NP? I applied ED for CWRU and ran the NPC with my parents, and I’m curious as to what a “good” NP would be in order to be admitted for need-aware colleges like CWRU.

EFC is the number which determines if you qualify for Federal financial aid such as Pell grants and work study. EFC is the minimum amount that a college will expect you to pay.

NPC (Net Price Calculator) is the tool in which you can get an estimate of your costs to attend a particular college. You should run a NPC for each college of interest.

If the college is need aware, it means that if you need financial aid to attend, that this will be considered in their admission decision.

A good NPC is one in which you can afford to pay and will vary depending on the college so no specific answer/amount can be given. It will depend upon your current financial situation and what your family is willing to contribute.

@frooet I hope you are getting some sleep tonight. You are way over thinking this need aware impact with your different threads. You have your cards on the table and done all you can do.

Your EFC from FAFSA and the formulas used by the colleges to determine aid based on your info are going to be what they are. There are so many other factors. You are not full pay and you are not triggering 100%.

Your will be someplace that values your abilities and hopefully where your family can afford.
