i'm currently a sophomore in high school but i'm afraid that i will have too many college credits due to the AP tests that i plan to take and won't qualify for the nrotc scholarship, i really need it. my APs (taken and planned): US Gov't, US History, bio, chem, physics, calc BC, english lang, english lit, world history, chinese, euro history

AP credits have no negative impact on the NROTC selection process. Here is what does:

1) Your major. 85% of scholarships are required to go to technical majors like Engineering.

2) GPA / Class Rank

3) Leadership. You need to be a leader in clubs and even better captain of sports teams.

4) ECs

Hopefully your #1 goal is to a Navy officer. If you are trying for the scholarship just to pay for college you won’t make it through based on my experience. I would suggest you change your screen name. There is no such thing as a Navy “cadet”. The term is Navy Midshipmen. Trust me you don’t want to make that mistake!

Best of luck and I’m happy to answer other NROTC related questions you have.

I refer to myself as a “cadet” because I am in the Naval Sea Cadet Corps but thank you!
