nsa stokes scholarship 2006

dah...monday...they told me they're hoping monday

Through email, so check yo stuff

yes, i was selected as a finalist. in comp sci. I hear about 1500 applied with 15-20 getting the job. Well, im really happy. I just gotta wrap up the rest of my processing, going down there on the 6th. Btw, candace are you on this board? this is that other wag applicant there at the holiday inn. well i wish you all good luck as well.

lucky bastard...you probly took my finalist spot..haha, j/k
and dont stress like most people on the polygraph, as long as you relax its cake

hehe, you were comp sci as well? oh well, im just glad i got job security and something to pay for college. But most of all, I get to serve my country! I love America.

would anyone know what they ask on the polygraph? marijuana usage? terrorist intention? identification?

yea its def a good opportunity...yea i was cs.
what college are you going to? I already work there as a work study, so I guess they figured "why does this kid need it"....but im going outta state, and all the in-house programs are for local colleges

all of that...except generalize marijuana to illegal substances

ah okay, how do you know that noodle (about the poly) I heard that they pick finalists regardless of their workship status. I guess it gets cutthroat at the end. But i wish you best of luck, noodle. Im going to RPI.

i had to go through that for the work study position....they give us work studies the full clearance too

I'm thinking about applying for this scholarship this upcoming year, but I noticed that the application says you can include 3 pages of supplmental information if desired. What would be an example? Are there any applicants who can tell me what they submitted if anything at all? Also, do you think Maryland residency and a parent who is employed by the NSA will increase my chances? Thanks!

I applied for a math position, so I wrote a proof of an algorithm that caught my eye in my Linear Algebra class for which no justification was given. That got me an interview at least, but I didn't ultimately get in.

idk if md residency and being employed will help. I live in MD and am currently a work study at NSA, and I wasn't selected as a finalist. I did make the semifinalist interviews though. I just put my MD distinguished scholar card in there...a MD all-state team award...and my eagle scout stuff. It helps if you're a minority :)

A question for those of you who got accepted as finalists or semifinalists, did NSA ever tell you what your summer/post graduation salary will be like? I'm afraid that government jobs don't pay as well as private company jobs. Also, can you apply for more than one position (i.e. both electrical and comp. engr)?

they didn't say...but i think a full tuition is good enough, don't you think? as far as position, i highly doubt they'll let you do that, though electrical and comp engr is actually one position, isn't it? ece...

I just went back and read one of the posts, the person got disqualified because his/er parents have dual citizenship. Looks like I'm in the same boat here. I don't get why they care so much about your parents' status. I mean, you would be the one working for them, right? Maybe I shouldn't even bother applying because they'll find out my parents have dual citizenship anyway.
