Nothing for me... Oh well.

Do you mean you didn't get it or you haven't heard?

Well, it looks like there were actual awards to geologists this year (as opposed to paleoclimates or other enviro-driven specialties)! Too bad they didn't do that last year...

I do know someone who got an honorable mention...not quite sure how he was eligible though....he graduated undergrad same year as I ('04) and went straight to grad school...a little fishy...

Thanks for posting, Addwit!

So help me out here. If your name appears as one of the 910 applicants on the 2007 Offered Award List, does that mean you won? It looks to me as if that list and the honorable mention list are mutually exclusive. Do they notify winners and HM via e-mail?

Yep, that's how it works.

Thanks, Dirt! :)

I mean I didn't get an award or honorable mention. I'm a little surprised to not even have an HM considering the effort I put into it and my grad school success. Eh, I'll just try again next year.

I still have the NDSEG to hope for.

I didn't get it either, only HM (which means dick, so who cares).

Come on DoD, give me some good news.

I've heard it's easier to get after you're actually in a school - aka your first year. I would imagine it's because they know where you're going and have a more fixed position of what you're going to be studying. Of course, on your side, it's going to be annoying to get some recs from your new school early on, but still. Is there any truth to this?

Do you have a link for the list?

Kinda weird the way they did it this year. Apparently in the past they've always notified all the applicants by e-mail then posted the lists. This year they just posted the lists--at the beginning of a weekend when a lot of the applicants are still traveling, thus leaving everyone else (e.g., clueless parents ;) ) to view the results before the applicants themselves. Go figure.
