@twogirls I scored a 1080 this year and I am going to study throughout the summer to raise my score to try to aim for NMSF, if possible.
@rphcfb I understood it the whole time. I never said there is one magic award. Obviously, you have to do the work (everyone knows that) and it’s best to be yourself. You clearly do not understand that I’m not “spooning awards” and the fact you saying I am is the wrong message coming out of me.
Here is my advice again as you head into junior year:
- Do well in your classes and challenge yourself
- Study for the SAT/ACT
- Continue to work at the pizzeria and nursery. Besides being valuable to you, working is a great EC
- You said you like the environment. Continue to volunteer at the park … cleanups, etc. Once you put in some time… significant time … you can check out the award that was suggested. Right now you should not apply.
- Get involved in a school activity. Peer tutoring, clubs… whatever interests you. Do not think about any awards… just get involved in something.
- During junior year, once you have real scores, you can create a list of schools. You need matches and safeties. Your psat score is average. Average is good… most students have average scores. The issue right now is that Wisconsin is not a safety for you… and schools such as MIT and Princeton are completely out of reach. That’s ok… these schools are out of reach for most.
You have been given excellent advice by everybody.
@twogirls Thanks
@twogirls My PSAT score ain’t really the best, but I think the main reason was because I didn’t finish Algebra 2 yet. When I’m done with the class in June, It will be easier for me to prep for the SAT and get a good score, while also studying for the reading and writing section.
Is the Congress of Future Medical Leaders Award of Excellence considered a national award?
Did you get this offer in the mail?
I have never heard of it…to me it sounds like one of the many marketing ploys that students receive.
@twogirls I think the award is real, but they want you to pay so much money for a program that is very unnecessary. It says I have been selected from my school for this award so Idk if it is legit or not.
@twogirls And it says my school’s name on it too
Yes the award is real… but it’s expensive (at least $1000) and doesn’t mean much.
