I see that NSLI-Y has posted on its website that decisions will be coming out before the end of April. So…guess it won’t be mid-March. My DD was in Egypt summer program in 2010 and has applied again for a summer program. She had the best time of her life!

@maltmom- “Final selection notification for the 2011-2012 NSLI-Y Programs will be announced before the end of April 2011”.
The way I interpret that, they could still start notifying students earlier. After all, they said it is done on a rolling basis.

Does anyone want to make a results pact (where we will post the results of our application and to what country - similiar to the college results threads? I pledge to post my result

I pledge to post my result (if I get in, that is). I just wanted to tell everyone on here that if you applied for the Chinese program, there is an awesome Chinese summer camp available in Provo, UT. I went to it last year and absolutely loved it. It’s called startalk. If you want to know more, here is a link to the website: [BYU Conferences and Workshops - StarTalk Chinese](http://ce.byu.edu/cw/startalkChinese/)

I’ve heard great things about Startalk - I looked into an Arabic program last yr but registration was pased, but I luckily got into NSLI-Y.

That is lucky! And Startalk is really great, I absolutely loved it went I went last year. Startalk is actually the reason I heard of NSLI-Y! And If anyone wants to apply to the Chinese or Arabic program, applications aren’t due until April 30th.

On ExchangesConnect someone posted that they were in contact with NSLI-Y and the source said that the turmoil in Egypt would not impact the summer program there - Egypt is still a go.

They email the decisions right? Everything has been emailed so that’s what I’m assuming…

I’m assuming email too. It’s getting very hard to wait until the end of April…

I received mine last year via e-mail and I screamed. Opened the email on my BlackBerry, screamed, and ran to tell my parents

This is what I see myself doing, once the middle of April rolls around: Checking my email every 20 minutes and if i get accepted screaming my head off and then telling my parents and screaming it to them.

if you can buy a smartphone! so much easier, and you’re not constantly logging onto gmail.com haha

yeah, too bad I don’t have a smartphone, ha ha.

haha no big. have you practiced your hopeful language/ read up on your hopeful country? it may make you more excited but take your mind off of the upcoming notifications.

yeah, actually I have! My hopeful country is China. What about you?

russssssssia!

^That post got me excited. I thought you we’re saying that you got accepted - but then I read the previous page. -_______-’ 30 days. ish

^that’s supposed to say “were,” not “we’re”

I’m dyyyyying to know. I don’t think I can wait til the end of April!

neither can I!!!
