C2007 - that's actually a much, much better idea than CUnity. It kills two birds with one stone. First of all, CUnity was an unmitigated disaster but they needed something as a generalized meeting-people event. Second of all, they've been looking for a way to defuse the anti-Barnard bias that seems to get set during orientation when the separation of most events engenders an Us Vs Them mentality. This sounds like a good way to achieve both goals, if they do end up doing it. Of course, the ratio of CC to Barnard is way more than 2 to 1, but maybe most of CC will be hung over and won't come out to the event.

metsfan- I believe the scavanger hunt is called "Blaze" (or BlAzE or bLaZe or something ridiculous like that).

Denzera- While I agree that it's a better than CUnity in that it actually has some sort of purpose and includes Barnard, I'm not sure "let's work together on this" is a better way to get to know people...it seems like they'd be more focused on the goal than one another. Also, being on a team with only two other people doesn't give freshmen the opportunity to meet many others during that time, so both the breadth and the depth of the "meet and greet" experience are reduced. Does it matter? Probably not so much, but I think it's even further removed from whatever elusive goal CUnity had.

u guys failed to mention the whole "touching strangers" aspect of CUnity

Just to let you guys all know how the BlaZe went, it was, strange. And yes, Sharf, they actually did have us "touch stranger." Some "everybody has to go through a hula hoop while holding hands in a big circle of diversity" crud. Another one of the "fun activities" of BlaZe was the awsomely exciting "flick pennies into a cup of pepsi and then drink the pepsi, while trying not to swallow the pennies and get metal poisoning." They did have us work in big groups (like 30 people to a group), though, so it did give us the opportunity to meet people. The funniest thing was when then kept emphasizing that we were allowed to "skip, hop, walk briskly, but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, NO MATTER WHAT, DON'T RUN. Mildly odd. But it will be really fun to look back on and laugh at senior year. Seriously.
