<p>Does anyone know how much emphasis Northwestern places on essays? I know every school looks at the essays as a reflection of the student, but compared to other competitive schools, how much do essays matter at NU? Thanks</p>

<p>As far as I know, NU puts a large emphasis on essays, especially why NU. My stats are much lower than many of the good applicants who were turned away, and I feell ike my essays were the tipping point. Two of my very good friends are NU alums and also say that essay are critical. I hope that helps</p>

<p>When I went to an information session at Northwestern, the representative really emphasized the importance of communicating effectively. If you write a well thought out, eloquent essay, you'll be a much more competitive applicant. Hope this helps!</p>
