I was recently accepted to NU.in ED2 for the class of 2022. I am majoring in bio so my options are only Ireland, Australian SUT, or Greece.
Right now I am basically choosing between Australia and Greece and I’m having a tough time deciding.
I know it’s unlikely that someone has visited both so I was hoping people could give me insight of their NU.in experiences at either Greece or australia, and perhaps talk about anything they’ve heard about the NU.in destination they have not been to.
Thank you so much for helping me make a decision!
I think there are videos from each program on you tube or something… check it out and see what resonates.
Hi!! I went to nu.in Greece (for the Spring, not the fall), but it’s the same place! I have also been to Australia on vacation, though that is most definitely different from living there for three months. I would 100% say you go to Greece if you are going to do nu. in. I fell in love with Greece and it is the perfect place if you’re looking to travel or just a different experience. When I visited Australia, it was basically as if I was in America. The two countries are very similar and you are, in my opinion limited on where you can travel personally. I traveled to New Zealand and Fiji during my time in Australia, but again, my overall experience was as if I was in America, only they had a slightly different dialect and some small differences.
Going to Greece gives you the opportunity to feel culture shock, the opportunity to learn some Greek, to learn about completely different cultures and the opportunity to travel throughout Europe if you choose to do so. For Greece, you study at ACT which is a very small private school, there are only two buildings, one of which is a library, but the school houses nu.in kids, a handful of students who are actually from Greece and some regular study abroads (typically juniors at other colleges in America). This gives you the opportunity to meet and become friends with people from other countries and other colleges.
You would be situated in Thessaloniki which is the second largest city in Greece. During your stay, you will be able to take the local bus 15 minutes downtown and be in the heart of everything. Or you could walk along the boardwalk and watch the sunset. Thessaloniki is a very safe city and there is plenty to do.
I could go on and on about how great my experience was and how much I loved Thessaloniki, but I won’t. If you want to ask me specific questions about Thessaloniki or the nu in program itself, feel free to reach out!!
