Pre-med / Pre-business focus...

I'd say Northwestern. Even though I'm probably not matriculating there next year, the resources and opportunities you're going to have at Feinberg (Northwestern's Medical School) would probably be greater than that of Georgetown (which for some reason, I think is grossly over-rated). Also, when it comes down to business -- look into the Kellogg Undergraduate Certificate Program. I'm also partial to Chicago, and the Northwestern Campus is beautiful.

But then again, what more would you expect to hear on the Northwestern Forum?

your question would probably be better answered if you told us what you're looking for in a college (e.g. location, social atmosphere, etc)

i'm wondering which would be better purely in an academic sense. i can figure out for myself which i prefer socially and locationally (is that a word?) when i visit later this month, but thanks for trying to give me a more holistic answer.

I know both schools pretty well. I went to grad school at GU and my kid is at NU. They are both so excellent, that you should really go to whichever school you feel is a better "fit" for you; it's win-win. Personally, I would vote NU. I think it's a bit stronger academically and a more pleasant environment.

thanks wcas parent.

Based on your posted info. in this thread, Northwestern University might be the better option for you since you could double major in economics and a science. This should allow you to prepare for either medical school or business school after your undergraduate years. It's easier to double major at Northwestern University than at most other schools because the four course quarter system allows students to complete 48 courses in four academic years as opposed to 36 to 40 courses under typical trimester/quarter or semester systems. (I also agree with post #2.)

thanks a lot icy and TheIndividual. I don't know if this says anything about the respective schools, but I asked this same question in the georgetown forum and have yet to get any replies.......
