Who else got that package in the mail with the luggage tags?

I've emailed NU, but they have yet to respond. Has anyone been successful in contacting NU about this? I don't understand how to work out the details as far as flights/which days...

I have no idea what's going on. I got this cute little envelope with my name on the outside, but inside, there was just a purple (no surprise there) postcard with an invite, but nothing with MY name on it specifically or details on how they're going to reimburse me.

heyy the same thing happened to me, and I had the same question...
here's what to do....

log on to your northwestern page or whatever (the page where you viewed your acceptance, using your email address and that long code-thing), and on there, there should be specific details about which dates youre invited to and how to proceed about the whole thing.

go to the "preview NU in April" link on the left, and it'll guide you from there.

Well, I actually got a call today from somebody from Northwestern. Basically, I logged on, went to the Wildcat Days info, went to register, and next to the first date there was writing in bold that said WE WILL PAY FOR YOUR TRANSPORTATION AND REGISTRATION.

That definitely wasn't there last week...

Anyway, you register, then call the Northwestern Travel Agency (girl on phone told me the phone #) and tell them you're from the Wildcat Days Program. Haven't done this yet, but I guess they set it all up.

If you haven't received a phone call from Northwestern, I would try calling one of the numbers listed on the Wildcat Days information.

That's very interesting that Northwestern pays for visits now. I spoke to an Admissions Officer last year when my youngest daughter was considering applying to Northwestern and asked them if they pay for visits for accepted students like Wash U. in St. Louis does. I was told, "no." I wonder if this is a new program, or very select/small, or my source uninformed.

I went to a Discover NU program (note: not an overnight program) last fall on my Midwest college tour, and they charged me $40 registration fee (including my dad) to cover food expenses, etc. when I arrived on campus to attend the program.

I don't know if NU is starting to pay for students to visit now, or if it was just a unique first come first serve kind of deal, but NU should definitely start doing that :) WashU is paying me to visit its campus next week and it still blows my mind that they're willing to provide the airfare, food, and housing accomodations for free! I just had to pay a $25 registration fee, but that's pretty miniscule compared to everything else.

Northwestern University, like many other schools, may be offering to pay transportation for certain students who also qualify for financial aid. Just a guess, but many colleges & universities have similiar programs to attract URM students & recruited athletes.

I wrote to the admissions staff asking for them to pay for our visit - after reading this thread - and I was told that the limited amount of funds that they had available for visits has been depleted. Oh well.
