NU SAT Score Ranges

SAT SCORES RANGE FOR ACCEPTED STUDENTS:
CR 690-770
M 700-790

Is that the NEW average? I know this is under the international students section, but I think this is the average for the entire university, including domestic applicants. If that really is the new SAT score average, there is NO WAY I'm getting in. My scores are like top 30% only. Badddd idea.

Someone else confirm please?

I thought their average was atleast a LITTLE lower than that. Oh my, it's as hard to get into as HARVARD and Princeton.

edit: I meant bottom 30ish%... according to that range. Haha. I originally thought I was at the average 50% or so score-wise.

Yes, that seems to be the new average for ADMITTED students. No, it's not as hard to get in as Harvard/Princeton because for those two schools, the stats would be for ENROLLED students. This is probably a 20/30-pt increase from last year, remarkable but not as much as it looks to you.

So, should I pay more attention to the stats for admitted or enrolled students?
And would I have a really bad chance if I'm near the bottom 30% of the ADMITTED stats but in the middle 50% of the ENROLLED?

Well, in the ED pool, the two stats are the same. There's no reason to believe enrolled students through ED have higher stats than enrolled students through RD. Since you are considering ED, you'd want to compare your stats with the enrolled stats.

Ah, I see. I probably had an unnecessary panic attack yesterday. xD
Leave it to me to do that.

Off-topic, but should I send >1 recommendation or does it not really matter?

What??????!!!

how could they jumpo from ACT : 29-33, to 31-34!!!!????

I'm really ****ed off now :(

I'm doubting my chances even more when I apply next year.

NU's scores seemed to increase by a significant margin this year. I have a few theories as to why this happened but that is for another time.

However, by a few things, this increase seems evident even though NU hasn't 'officially' confirmed the stats for class of 2011. However, the pres. noted in the alumni magazine that the entering class had a 1423 average for ENROLLED students. When we are talking about enrolled students, that 1423, I would venture to say, is among the highest sat averages in the entire country. NU for about 2-3 years was hovering around a high 1300 and low 1400. It's range (1320-1500) has been stagnant for about 3 years now. It is surprising that the range would jump all of a sudden but nothing in admissions is quite surprising anymore. I would say that NU has to be given some credit for responding to and recruiting an increasingly competitive admissions pool of students. I would say that if the average is indeed a 1423, the range for Enrolled students (not accepted) will probably be around a 1340-1530. That is my prediction. More specifically, Math will prob be around 680-770 and Verbal will prob be around 660-760. That is just my prediction.

in an article on NU"s website (if you search for it), you will see how under the newly appointed provost (former dean of cas) helped raise median sat of CAS students from a 1400 to 1450 (which I presume is for class of 2011).

I did a search and nothing came up. If you can find it, can you post it here?

funployee,

31-34 is for "admitted" students, not enrolled. it's probably 30-33 for enrolled students.

Yeah, umm, so I am basically SCREWED. It jumped from 1400 to 1450?!?
Wow, maybe I need to think again about EDing here. I'll probably get rejected... My scores are now BELOW median???

Well, the score may go down next year. After all, that's rather unusual.

no....the jump occurred over a 4-5 year period.

That's not possible. It was a 1420ish before. If it really is 1450 NOW, it jumped just last year.
