NU vs Tulane

I started a Northwestern vs Tulane thread in the common section, but I want to hear what Northwestern has to say:

Northwestern pretty much gave me nothing. Parents have decided not to take the giant fed plus loan. Tulane has given me a 25k/year scholarship.

Both have great cities. Northwestern offers a lot in regards to academics and opportunities, but Tulane has a good community feel, is less divided, and would be a more relaxing four years.

I'm thinking about pre-med. Tulane offers a couple of tracks with early acceptance into their med school. I don't know anything specific about Northwestern's premed, but I assume it's good. Any comparison between acceptance rates to med schools would be highly appreciated.

I'm not interested in pursuing theater, journalism, film, music, and communications. Not interested in Latin Studies either.

So where should I go?

Not worth the 100k. Go to Tulane and have an easier time getting a good GPA (since you’ll be smarter than a greater percentage of the kids at Tulane than at NU).

You do need a very good GPA to get into Med School (or any graduate school for that matter), so go to the place where you will have an easier time getting a good GPA, like arbiter said. In this case, it would be to go to Tulane and be near the top of your class, and they even gave you good money.

good luck! :)

Save the 100K! I hope you feel better about giving up Northwestern after hearing the same thing from all of us.

I think I made my decision. ;)

Thanks so much for the input!

I would take the scholarship and go to Tulane. Good school and you can put that money into med school. Good luck.

The caliber of student at TU is rapidly increasing. Anyone who thinks TU will be a cakewalk will be disappointed.
