Nuclear engineering @GTech

What's it like?

I actually would like to know as well. I’ve been to the campus and seen the building, but it seems like a very small program.

Yeah, NucE usually is small, and it looks like there is only about 10 faculty.
Still, its suppossed to be a top 15 undergraduate program, but there isn’t much info on it.

A really good place to get an unbiased opinion is here: [Office of Assessment Documents](http://www.assessment.gatech.edu/documents/)

That site has the 1997 ABET accreditation review which has a considerable amount of information a website like this won’t provide. You have to keep in mind that the report is 12 years old, and every program at Tech (that I can think of) has improved over that time period, but it’s a good starting point: if something is identified as an issue, you can ask the school what has been done to address the issue, etc.

Also, even though there are “only” 10 faculty members (that’s a lot for a sub-field), keep in mind that there are a number of academic professionals (non tenure-track professors), adjunct professors, and part-time professors (split time between departments). Combining those groups, the student to faculty ratio is probably less than 1.

One last question,

Is it possible for a undergrad to gain work as a reactor operator?
