Nuclear Engineering

Anyone have any experience with Nuclear Engineering? My son is very interested in Ohio State where you can minor in Nuclear. I know Penn State and Purdue both offer this degree, but he would rather be in a more urban environment. We toured Purdue, and he really did not care for the environment.

His list is very small, and we're trying to expand it, just to feel a bit safer.

His short stats:
dual schools, suburban public school and urban magnet math and science academy
3.7 weighted gpa
rank:17/303
33 act
730 m, 660 v, 690 cr
nhs
ec's center around band(tuba) and tech crew for drama

Nuclear-Trained Naval Officers

Two and a half years prior to college graduation, future Nuclear Power Officers can enter the Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Program (NUPOC). This program offers you a monthly stipend from $2,990 to $5,000 per month for up to 30 months depending on location, a $15,000 selection bonus, and an additional $2,000 bonus upon completing nuclear propulsion training.

730 math?

636

Michigan offers a nuclear engineering major. But as a tuba player he might be more interested in OSU, he would be in line for Honors.

Yes, 730 Math SATI

SATII--740 chem, 730 Math

with a 730 hes gonna have to focus real hard on math... If it comes to tuba or dif eqs, which is it gonna be?

636

He's already decided he won't be able to March in college, because of the demands of engineering.

He will want to participate in an ensemble(s), as music will be his release.

730 Math is three mistakes on the SAT,and they could easily be careless ones. Mathson never got above a 750 on the SAT1 (two mistakes) and each time they were questions a fourth grader could have answered. Don't worry about your son's ability to do the math - he probably just lost his concentration a bit.
