I’m likely going to Berkeley in the fall for Nuclear Engineering, but I’m having second thoughts about my major.
If I want to change majors to MechE, will it be difficult? The freshman year coursework for the two majors is basically the same (with the exception of Engineering 25-Visualization for Design for the MechE track). Will it just come down to how I do academically in the first two semesters?
I believe it will be easy to change majors in Engineering except EECS.
You should contact the College of Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering with your question.
@artloversplus Thanks for the insight! But I’m wondering what makes you think so? I know EECS is almost impossible to transfer into, but will ME be that much easier?
@ucbalumus Will do! I should’ve thought of that earlier
I’ve been asking around about this, and the general consensus is that it’s quite easy to switch between most engineering majors (even EECS) as long as you’re in the COE! Especially ones that aren’t EECS, since most of the other engineering majors have the exact same freshman year coursework. You should be fine.
