Hi all,
I am a junior aspiring to go to a top university in the US. My HS does not offer APs until junior year. Would AdComs care that I didn't take any APs until junior year? I would have a total of around 9 by the end of high school. If you were accepted into a Top 20/Ivy, how many APs did you take/how many per year? Thank you.

If you literally did not have the opportunity to take an AP but did take the most rigorous courses that your HS offered, it’s not a problem. A lot of people just don’t seem to get it. It’s not how many APs you took or the exact score you got on your SAT that’ll get you into these top schools, which you can clearly see from the acceptance threads. There’s a lot more to it than that; don’t worry about it.

Thanks I fully understand that once you hit a certain number or score or whatever, ECs and other aspects of your application will substantially outweigh stats. However as I read through some of the decisions threads it made me a little uneasy about the mind boggling amounts of APs some of the applicants had under their belt…

It’s really not important, as long as you applied yourself. If you didn’t have the opportunity to take APs in 9th and 10th grade, it obviously can’t be held against you. Every high school is different and the adcoms know that.
