So I know you need 30 courses to graduate, does it matter how you distribute the number of courses you take? By this I mean, can you take 5 courses a semester? Also, what happens if you exceed the 30 courses (like if you decided to take 5 courses per semester for all 4 years)?

You can take 5 a semester (although I don't recommend it your first semester). You can certainly take 5 courses every semester. Exceeding 30 courses is normal...if you take 4 a semester you're at 32. I think only 2 summer classes can count toward your 30 course minimum though.

So you won't be charged extra?

Is it possible to take more than 32 courses in 4 years? I know Brown allows a fifth year if you need it to fulfill concentration requirements which allows you to take upto 38 courses. Is the same possible in 4 years?

You can take anywhere between 3 and 5 courses a semester without paying extra for the semester. It's that simple.

are summer courses extra?

yes, summer courses are pretty pricey

but cheaper than normal classes!

And you can get fin aid for summer, too
