Number of credits freshman year?

I've been looking at Fall 2014 course roaster and -- whoa, I want everything..

So I'm in dire need of advice. What's a reasonable first semester load, considering I'll be doing humanities and languages -- 15/16?

The average is generally about 4 classes (either 3 or 4 credits), which goes to about 14-15 classes. I’ve known people who’ve done 5 classes their first semester, but 4 is more common, and gives you more time to adjust to college academics and acclimated socially too.

@gateways‌ That’s awesome, thank you. How common is 5 classes + job?

I can drop stuff, theoretically, but I do hate dropping stuff.

You find everything at Cornell. There’s also nothing wrong with dropping, it only appears on your transcript as a W if you drop after the mid semester. This is my advice to you though, take at most 4 core classes (this is by far the most common) ,you may add joke one credit S/U classes on the side like PE, Intro to Music Notation etc. Taking 5 classes + job is doable but you won’t give as much attention to each of your courses as you would if it were 4. You also would be pressed with time because something is always due. Finally, it’s your first semester, figure out what you can handle rather than just jumping into huge workload.

Most advisors recommend no more than 15 first semester–especially with a job
