So Originally I planned to have the required letters and two supplementary ones for my cornell app.
One is from my music teacher who can speak well for how I work in groups and practice really thoroughly
One is from my volunteer coordinator who said she mentioned a lot of leadership qualities
Today a close family friend/alumni/board member said she sent in a letter on my behalf on how she would want to mentor me if I got in and how I would fit in with the community and stuff.
Pretty much in total I have 6 and am worried that the admissions will get pissed off by this and reject me.
Is that really bad for my application?
If it is can i adk to omit one from my application?
You were supposed to have 3 recommendations. 2 From school teachers (supposed to be core classes) and 1 from guidance councilors. You might have one extra from an outside source. If Cornell doesn’t get those 2 school teachers and guidance councilor rec than yea that hurts. Going beyond that is stupid and will not help your application, i don’t think they will even look at them?
Parent of 2015 accepted student here…I think the newest supplemental rec sounds like a good one. You can pick and choose in your Common App which recs you send to which schools. My d had three teacher recs and one EC advisor rec. The school isn’t going to reject you for having too many letters, but if you’re concerned you should call Admissions and ask if three supplemental recs is okay.
S3 has 2 teacher and GC letter in file. We added another letter from the organization that supervised his volunteer service hours and he requested the School The GC was not sure on including the letter and we discussed it as a family ad kept it in his file. He was deferred for ED.He wrote another letter on his own behalf and the gc also sent a follow uo. We are happy to say he is accepted into the class of 2019.K===eep the letters short and sweet and get right to the [point
