It seems to me looking through the UT website that they want only 1 recommendation. Would they accept 2 or 3?

Thanks

My son sent 2 teacher and a counselor rec for his Bus Honors ap.

MUST you submit a rec?

i submitted my two required recs for engineering honors and im thinking about doing two more just to be safe, so i have the same question.

i'm applying to the college of liberal arts...do i need to send any recs

I'm not. I'm applying to liberal arts too (Latin American Studies)...I am in top 10 percent though so I think it isn't necessary.

where does it say anything about recs? Is this for honors? If it is, I'd better not wait until the night before (again) to do that one.

You don't need recs to apply, unless you apply to the Honors College which might require recs. It doesn't hurt to send one though (with the exception of a few cases).

i went ahead and sent two more for honors, since my counselor thought i was applying for business honors when the recommendation email sent to her clearly said engineering, and im not sure if the other teacher wrote that great of one. hopefully having two recs over the honors requirements doesnt hurt me.

On UT's website, go to the section about Honors Programs. There are specific requirements for each program, but all require at least one recommendation. Check your program just to be sure. I sent in 5 and I applied to three honors programs (Business Honors, Plan II, and Liberal Arts Honors).

Now, if you're just applying and you're in-state top 10% then I don't think you have anything to worry about, but it definitely wouldn't hurt. Otherwise, I would send in at least two recommendations.
