Can anyone point me to some stats concerning the number of studnets in each department/major? I can't seem to find it on the Columbia website. Thanks in advance.

They don't release these numbers. They change from year to year (sometimes greatly), so one year's numbers won't do you much good. If you post which departments you're interested in, me and others would be able to give you a decent approximation.

Astrophysics, please. Thanks again.

I can't find it now, but at one point I remember seeing a list by year of how many people graduated in each department. Anyway, astrophysics couldn't have been more than a handful.

You might look at the online bulletin and check the enrollment of Introduction to Astrophysics, which is a two semester class they recommend to sophomores planning on an astrophysics major. I'm sure it's small.

I just checked it myself. No. of students taking intro to astrophysics this year: 8

A friend of mine says that there are five astrophysics majors right now (juniors and seniors who have declared astrophysics as their major).

any know about film studies majors...? or where i could find that info...?

would you say 8 undergraduates is a good program to be part of? Or is it better to go into a program with many undergraduates? (this is still for astrophysics)

^why you would bring up an over-two year old thread is beyond me, but in any case, here are the numbers for Columbia College and SEAS:
