i think they are
afterall we are going to college to get an education...so why shouldnt they base it on our gpas and sat scores...i mean sure some of us are awesome at other things...and colleges will see that and it will work in our favor...but i really dont see why people who dont have much going for them think that numbers arent everything
i mean sure you might be an outstanding person...w.e. that means...but colleges dont know most of us...if any of us...personally

not.......necessarily........

numbers aren't everything. They don't get very much of ur personality, but they can get a small glimpse of it, or w/e ur trying to be according to what u write in ur essays. But there are always those who get in cuz they're just so good at something non-academic. But yes, numbers are probably the biggest factor in consideration of admittance in colleges.

Numbers are everything! They define who you are. The government knows you as soley a number (your SSN)... Schools know you as an app id # and base their decisions off your gpa+sat scores+# of ec's+# of community service hours (all numbers), even CC knows you as a number in the form of ones and zeros.
