I want to know the approximate number of people who hold jobs in investment banking/private equity/hedge funds/venture capital where the compensation is 300,000 dollars or more per year.

Can anyone give me an informed guess on this number?

Depends on the year and whether you are talking about cash compensation or all-in compensation - cash, restricted stock and so forth. Essentially, during good years, if you are talking all-in compensation, you will be looking at mid to senior level associates and above. In bad years, it is really wild in terms of swings - at my bank, when the crisis was at its worst 2 years ago and bonuses were completely in the toilet, I know many directors didn’t hit that mark (since senior banker compensation is predominantly bonus-based).

Thanks BankonBanking for your help.

Let’s say we are looking at all-in compensation on a good year.
