Numerous Applicants From My School

If there are numerous kids applying to a college from my school am I more likely to get in if my app is better (GPA, SAT, EC's, etc) compared to no school comparison

Well that’s all relative isn’t it? If indeed your app is “better” than your peers, all can be said is their chances might be slightly lower than yours, right? But you don’t know how you compare in the rest of the broader pool.

Experience tells me that you won’t get any boost because non-viable or lessor apps are coming from your HS. It’s all the OTHER great apps you need to be concerned about…

Best of luck to you

The first thing to look at is how many of the others have hooks–they are the most likely to get in, even with lower stats. After that, yes, you will be compared directly with your classmates.

I am the only one among two other girls applying to UT from my school, I know my SAT beats them both by around 150 (I got an 1840), I just took the ACT and think I got between a 28-30, I’ve talked to them and my EC’s are MUCH better (I actually worked for one of their dads tax firm lol), and my GPA is about .2 higher UW…Think it will help boost me even though (assuming I didn’t do well on my ACT) my SAT is slightly low for UT standards?

I’m an OSS applicant to UT-Austin btw

No, it won’t boost you just because you have higher stats than unqualified applicants.

Alright, thanks!
