What do you do when you have numerous papers that are all due at once?

you know in advance, ask for an extension

i hate when that happens, especially if you have tests on the same day

I hate it when I have 2 large problem sets due on tuesday, 2 exams plus a project and class registration (which happens to start at the same time as one of my exams) on wednesday, a presentation on thursday, and a big paper on friday.

That was this week, I nearly killed myself but I got through it. My suggestion, just suck it up and do it.

If it’s only 2 papers (or a paper and a test), deal with it. If it’s more than that, I’d try and get an extension on at least one of them, depending how many it is. If it’s ridiculous, like two papers, two tests and a project due, then yeah I’d try and get a paper extended a couple days til after the tests were done, but if all it is, is two papers each less than 5 pages, then welcome to college.

You kick yourself in the behind for procrastinating!!

First of all… plan things out at the beginning of term. Buy a big four month calendar and put all your deadlines on it. If it looks like one of your weeks is particularly rough, PLAN AHEAD. Start some of the things you have to do early.

If it’s too late for that… either suck it up or try to ask for extensions. But I do have to agree with the above poster… kick yourself for procrastinating so much!

It happens to everyone in college sooner or later - the week (or weeks) of hell. I had one week in october with four midterms and a presentation. You really just need good time management, and it’s doable.

Often, I find that a good first step to handing in papers that are all due at once is to write them and stop going on CC.

^^ and facebook :P

I’m seriously kicked myself right now with my 20 page paper due on Tuesday and I would’ve actually really liked to polish this as this now has some pretty good ideas! (Before… I was working on my 32 page thesis…very time consuming)

you kill yourself.

from day 1 of classes you know when every single thing is due.

if it catches you by surprise, it’s completely your fault. People that ask for extensions annoy me (unless it’s like, an emergency). I am like the biggest procrastinator better, but I always get things done. If you have 2 papers and a test one week, and you don’t start until Sunday night… figure it out.

Soccerguy- you don’t always know when everything is due. I know most of my professors don’t have all their tests, quizzes, and papers on the syllabus.

I have 2 to 3 15+ page papers due every other week. You just get used to it.

Yeah, it’s almost a bit… easier?.. to do one paper when it’s part of a routine. One of my classes is very light on requirements - a midterm and final (80% essay questions, which are given to us beforehand) and one 10-page paper. I’ve procrastinated and avoided this paper for so long, and made the process so much more painful than it should be.

Actually, I don’t procrastinate often. However, my teachers don’t like give us the paper assignments ahead of time. For instance, in my spanish class, the professor just gave us our papers not so long ago.

My freshman D goes to the same school as soccerguy and was given every paper/project deadline the first day of class; most were also online, including any changes/modifications. Great for the students and, to me, a sign of an organized professor.

I start early, and if it becomes a problem, ask for a brief extension. It certainly isn’t a problem asking for an extension as long as you don’t do it too often.

oh, then it’s different I suppose. Every single class I’ve taken, on the first day when I get a syllabus, it has all exams, homework due dates (of which I hardly ever have), quizes (except pop quizes), reading assignments, etc. Everything. If anything is changed, it is only pushed back, never forward (assignments only taken away, never added). The professors view it is a contract that they agree to.

I guess I’ve taken that for granted, I figured it was like that everywhere.

haha I have this problem too.
I have a 5 page paper due, then 15 page paper, and then another 5 page paper due… Along with a sculpture project and 2-3 paintings due for studio classes. I didn’t have that many papers at all through out the entire year so all these papers jumping out at me in the last moment’s a little bit irking.

I just have a 4-6 page paper due tomorrow on a subject I have little interest in with a minimum of 4 outside sources. Whatev.

too many papers for me, either teachers like to read them cause they have nothing to do, or the department tells them to give lots of boring and mostly useless papers where you spend a lot of time revising and researching and the teacher or TA just reads it and grades it
