Financial is not a huge concern. decent passing rate, (My daughter wants a full college experience with students from different states, so she doesn’t consider commuter schools.), easy access to hospitals (better bigger hospitals), mid to large in Northeast, midwest, southeast. We’ve application, but she thinks she can’t get in any DA schools, so add one more school might help her feel better. school applied

I can’t see having all those listed and not adding Pitt to the list. That said I would get her application in ASAP as they are rolling and you have a greater change getting in the sooner you apply!
She can definitely get into DA schools. The state flagships (UConn,UNH etc) are a bit of an unknown as they get tons of apps and also attract top students. However, I would not be surprised if she gets to some of them. It is hard to tell just from stats. Drexel, Temple, Fairfield, U Maine I think are solid matches. Not familiar with Florida or Chicago schools. Safety schools are usually those that have great nursing but they do not offer the same experience as big schools so there is not point to apply to them if they will not make her happy. In MA maybe consider U Mass Lowell. Has also great engineering and attracts top students because of competitive merit.
She can get into DA schools. Her ACT would be in the middle 50% at Pitt. Her GPA might be low though. Pitt is a tough admit. Cincinnati would be a good option.
I agree with other posters- your daughter WILL surely get into a few DA programs! You have a great list, and you’re applying early.
Thanks for all posters for input and encouragement!
Hello! I have a daughter that is a senior who is applying to direct nursing programs. We live in NH and are wondering if anyone is familiar with the nursing program at University of New England? It looks like the program switches from the Biddeford campus to Portland campus the junior year. Is that a difficult transition to make?
What about Endicott College? Does anyone have any info?
My daughters GPA is 3.92 weighted and won’t be submitting her SAT scores.
Thank you.
My daughter has similar stats and a 31 ACT. She also wants a larger school in a warmer climate - we live in the Chicago area.
We have been disappointed how some of the nursing programs are located at a distance from the main school: Ole Miss, Baylor and LSU. You do 2 years (or perhaps less with AP credits coming in) and then go to another city entirely for the remainder because that is where the nursing school/medical center is located. It’s so disappointing to know you would have to pick up and leave friends and the college community.
My daughter has still applied to a few of these but I am discouraging them because of that issue.
Thank you for responding. I agree that it is disappointing to have to leave friends and the whole college experience to do clinical.
I’m truly worried that my daughter won’t get in anywhere. She wants to stay in New England and not willing to look further than that.
I feel the same and also had her add some of them. She may want to take a look at Auburn also. My daughter applied EA and was accepted this past Friday. We visited the nursing school last spring and were very impressed. It’s not direct admit, but they stay on the Auburn campus all years.
Is she applying to UMaine? You might want to consider it as well.
My daughter is a freshman in the Nursing program.
Very happy.
Yes, UMaine is on her list! Thank you! It’s on her list because of your recommendation in a previous post . We are going to try to drive up there and check it out this weekend.

Hello! Your daughter sounds like an excellent BSN candidate & future RN based on what you have shared. From our experience last year, URI and Sacred Heart are probably matches, maybe even safeties for you DD. Best of luck & keep us posted!
I think Duquesne would be a good fit would those stats. Probably Drexel as well? As I stated before, my daughter also enjoyed Marquette, St Louis, Loyola, Xavier, Elon, and Florida Southern (amazing campus; worth a trip down to enjoy the beautiful surroundings as well as large parts of the campus being designed by Frank Lloyd Wright).
She did apply to Auburn. Didn’t submit until about 2 weeks ago so no decision there yet. Her sister is at Alabama (not in nursing though) so she also applied there - although that will create an interesting dynamic should we have them at rival schools. lol
Pennsylvania has over 50 direct entry BSN programs, many of them not very selective. My D22 was admitted to 3 of them (IUP, Clarion, Alvernia) last fall with an 89 UW average, 1030 SAT, no honors or AP courses, one DE course, and no foreign language. She was a Vo-Tech student (Healthcare Pathways) half-days and did her academic coursework online. If you want a super-safety, I’d recommend IUP. Your daughter can certainly get into more selective nursing programs.
You might also want to check out York College of PA, Lebanon Valley, Messiah, Moravian, University of Scranton, Bloomsburg, and West Chester. The important thing is to apply ASAP, as most of them are rolling admissions or have early deadlines for nursing. Fortunately, many if not all have fairly simple applications.
