Congratulations to your kid!!! I don’t think you intended me however😀. Both my kids (and dad) pass out at the sight of blood.
I think it is a good program. My daughter ended up not applying despite having family right near the school because it seemed pretty much impossible to do honors with nursing and she wanted the honors housing. Otherwise, they told her there was the possibility that she would be assigned downtown campus housing sophomore year. She also did not like how the clinicals seemed to involve locations all over the city and could take quite some time to get to with Chicago traffic. The nursing student we spoke too definitely said would need a car or someone in group would need a car to get to clinicals.
US News ranked the BSN at Loyola as #29.
Oh, thanks! Just checked- DD did get into URI also! $12,000 year merit.
DD got the merit letter from Minnesota today- $15,000 year. We are going to visit, but I think that it is her top choice.
Do you mind sharing her stats?
Sure- 4.9 GPA weighted 1430 SAT. No real extracurriculars to note.
Thank you!
Does your daughter have a general area she wants to work after graduation?
She has no idea yet. Any recommendations?
I meant geographical area. That would help you narrow down the choices.
Does anyone know anything about Jacksonville University in Florida?
Did her merit letter come via the portal/email or snail mail? My DD hasn’t received any merit notification yet. Just curious.

Does anyone know if it matters if you get a BSN in one state and want to work in another state?

Does anyone have any feedback on these nursing programs? Florida Atlantic Univ, USF in Tampa, U of Tampa, FSU, Longwood Univ in Virginia, George Mason Univ, VCU and Jmu? I know, that’s a lot!!
We are planning on looking at FAU and USF. Is one better than the other?
Thank you!
1: No it does not matter, you can ultimately get a license in any state once you are an RN, some states even have reciprocity with others.
2: I don’t know much about those programs other than JMU- and only superficially- my daughter’s friend is a freshman nursing student there, and likes it so far!
I would look at each schools page for pass rates as a baseline. If one is too low sack it.
I am trying for UPITT BSN nursing pros vs cons ( I am from MA state). any benefits on HONOR class vs regular class?.
She is open to any areas as long as the pay is decent and it’s easier to pass NCLEX.
The school will have to tell you what the advantages to honors are. Ask them.
My daughter is a freshman nursing student at Pitt. She did not originally apply to the honors program. They do have a BSN-H degree that can be obtained via curriculum (additional courses) or via research project/thesis without actually having to be in the honor college.
She is considering pursuing that option. Hope that helps
