Nursing Major: Do I have a chance?

I’m a senior in high school and I hoping to get into nursing in these following schools:
San Diego State
UC Irvine
CSU Fullerton
Point Loma
University of San Francisco

My stats are:
SAT: 1260 (650rw/610m)
I’m retaking the sat one last time in October hoping to get my math score up
CSU GPA: 4.0
Academic GPA: 3.97
Unweighted GPA: 3.74

What are my chances?

Last year you needed an Eligibility index of 4500+ for an acceptance at both CSU Fullerton Direct admit Nursing and SDSU Direct admit Nursing programs.

Your EI is (4.0x800)+ (1260)= 4460. If you can raise your SAT score up another 40 points you would be at the EI threshold. The EI threshold does fluctuate from year to year based on the in-coming Freshman stats so it could be higher for each school this coming admission cycle. Definitely worth an application to each of these schools.

Point Loma and USF are within Reach and you look like a competitive applicant.

UCI had an average UC GPA of 4.20 and SAT of 1354 for this year’s incoming Nursing Freshman. I would say a slight Reach due to the low acceptance rate of 3.5%.

You might also want to consider Azusa Pacific University’s Direct admit program along with Arizona State if you are interested in an Out of State school.

Best of luck.

Hi, @Gumbymom, I’m also applying to be a nursing major and I’m homing to get accepted this year. My EI is (4.04*800)+1500 is 4732. Not considering my extracurriculars (lots of volunteering, music), do you think I have a good chance of getting accepted?

@pingotip. Since you are not the original poster asking for chances, it is considered good CC etiquette to start your own thread.

oops. sorry, I’m a new user here and still trying to find out how to use the site. Thanks for the suggestion though, i iwll make a new thread shortly
