I just have a random question about the nursing major (RN) offered at Stony. if you applied under another major, say biology, would you be able to change it to Nursing at orientation or is your future set in stone? just wondering. appreciate any feedback.

No.

Nursing at Stony Brook has its own admissions requirements, and its own admissions process. You can declare your interest in nursing, but you'd want to contact the School of Nursing to discuss what you'd need to do to be admitted to the program. Nursing at Stony Brook, like a lot of places, is small; they only admit 40 students a year. The deadline is December 15 or 31 (I don't remember which) for the following Fall; and it's a fall-admission program only. Full info can be found on their site.
