Nursing Major?

I'm for sure going into Nursing as a major, probablly to get my BSN. This is a new decision so I only have looked at 2 colleges, UCSF and APU. Any suggestions on help as to where I should look into? I'm hoping to stay in state so save money, and that's another thing. How is the Financial aid at these schools? Correct me if this is in the wrong area.

Thanks!

Last I heard, Nursing was one of the designated "Impacted Major" at California public colleges, so it's competitive to get admitted to a public nursing program in the state. Therefore, you should broaden your list of schools. No need to go private if a slot at a UC or CSU is available.

UCSF has an undergrad nursing major? I know they have a very reputable graduate nursing program, but I thought they were just a grad school.

Azusa Pacific U. is private so there is no in-state tuition break. If you're willing to look at privates in CA check out Biola U., Point Loma U., and Cal Baptist (all Christian). For location alone, Pt. Loma would be a fabulous choice. As far as I know, you apply to the nursing program after your freshman year (and certain science courses). Nursing is very impacted in CA. I would suggest you look outside (WA, OR, AZ, or the Mid-West) for excellent BSN programs that aren't so impacted. Because of our very developed community college system in CA, the BSN programs (pre-licensure) are hard to come by. The salaries are very good once a practicing RN, so the student loans are worth the expense to fast track to a BSN degree.
