Would anyone who applied to the College of Nursing be willing to share their stats/ECs, etc and if they were accepted? My daughter is a current high school junior and Villanova is her #1 choice, so trying to gauge her chances. We were told it was the second most difficult program to get into there, so yikes!
My son applied last year and was waitlisted. He had a 1370 SAT, top 10% of class, lots of ECs
@phxcactus I was deferred EA and then waitlisted
State: CT
ACT: 33
SAT: didn’t send
GPA: 93 w (weakest part of my app i think)
school doesn’t rank
5 AP’s, AP Scholar w honor, other classes were honors and dual enrollment, Seal of Biliteracy in French
ECs: music for 10+ years with leadership and impressive performances/features, french club and mentor club president, french cultural exchange program, tutoring, babysitting, and part-time job, helped family business, volunteering with church and mission trips, etc etc etc

Strong recs
Visited and had nonevaluative interview with Mrs. Gardener
@simsmom2 Did your son apply EA or ED by chance?
@fran01 thank you so much! You are very accomplished! What other schools are you seriously considering at this point?
thank you!! I was also waitlisted at Northeastern and George Washington and denied at BC. I’m waiting to hear from Georgetown (fingers crossed!!) and BU. However, with how competitive and unexpected this application season has been I’m definitely feeling the pressure. I’m into University of Maryland, Loyola Maryland, UConn Nursing, Drexel Nursing, and Temple Nursing which were all safety/big likely schools for me and I received lots of merit scholarships from all of these. Georgetown is my first choice
At this point, while it’s not what I was expecting at all, I might start at UConn which has an incredible nursing program and is in-state for me and then try to transfer as a sophomore. I figure that spending 20k with a scholarship for a year and transferring is better than the 50-70k I would pay for my freshman year anywhere else.
I hope this helped!! This process has been so crazy and unexpected… I have friends who have been waitlisted everywhere and at this point don’t have a school to go to in the fall. I also know someone who committed to a D1 school for swimming and was then denied. Many schools this year are cutting back due to over-enrollment issues from the last two years, making it more competitive than ever.
If Villanova is a first choice, you should definitely visit and arrange a meeting with Mrs. Gardener! She is so nice, personal, and helpful and can answer any questions. I’m not sure if it will increase your chances as she told me the meeting/interview was nonevaluative, but it was a great experience speaking to an expert in the field and soaking in all of her advice.
Best of luck to your daughter! think positive
@fran01 thank you so much! My daughter looked at several of those schools and was planning to visit Boston College. Did you visit Temple? Was it a lot like Drexel? She did not care for the campus feel of Drexel, but it has a fabulous nursing program. Was debating trying to add it to her list of visits this summer. We live in AZ so we have to plan out our East Coast route. We have been to Villanova several times…her brother is actually a sophomore there and darn them, they do such a great job with the tours and of course the campus is so gorgeous. She clearly fell in love at first sight.
She does want to tour Case Western, Gannon, Waynesburg, & BC. From the midwest is looking at Augustana College, Bradley, Creighton, Marquette, Purdue, and possibly TCU. She also loved Georgetown…you girls seem like you have similar taste!
So happy for you…you have fabulous choices there! Good luck!
He applied EA - was deferred, then waitlisted and then asked in June to stay on the summer waitlist and hear by August 15. He declined that last offer.
