Nursing Program?

Does Cal Poly have Nursing Program?

According to the major matrix sheet for the entire CSU system. Cal Poly does not have a Nursing Program.

No, but they do have the ICS (Individualized Course of Study) through the Kinesiology major.

[Health Care Professions - Kinesiology Department - Cal Poly](http://www.kinesiology.calpoly.edu/students/jobs/Health_Care_Professions.html)

My daughter is doing this for Occupational Therapy (pre-reqs for grad school.)

@2Leashes Thanks for the link.
so, is it actually BS in Kinesiology?
I looked at the cours offerings, did not get much sense of nursing.
Though it does say "The major also offers an Individualized Course of Study that allows a student to design a program for Nursing, Physician Assistant or Occupational Therapy. "
I am applying now, if I select Kinesiology major, will it guarantee that I will get in a program for Nursing?

well, nothing is guaranteed. You have to work for it.

let me rephrase my question. In application, when you select Kinesiology major, how does the admission office know that the interest was nursing but not others?

They don’t. Once you get accepted and start attending school, then you are able to create the nursing path.

But you have to select Kinesiology major major in order to possible have a nursing path.
If I select Biological Science as a major, I will not be able to get a nursing path.

that might be of help. Those are science classes you could take as a kinesiology, bio,chem, biochem, nutrition, etc.

hmmm, let me ask this way: Is I am an admitted Biological Science major, am I able to create a nursing path in cal poly? Is the kinesiology major the only major to implement a nursing path in cal poly?

lovingbird, I understand what you’re asking. You know, I’m not really sure if the ICS concentration is *only *in the Kinesiology major (for Nursing, Physician’s Assistant and OT) or if you can major in Biological Sciences instead. The big thing about ICS geared toward these careers is taking the right pre-requisites for whichever career path you choose. And, I know with Occupational Therapy, there will be slightly different requirements depending on the grad programs my daughter is interested in. You might want to email one of the health professions advisors or the advisor who works with the students in Kinesiology who chose the ICS concentration. It seems that you would be getting plenty of nursing pre-reqs. with Biological Sciences. But, I’m not sure what else is required. Best wishes to you! :)
