Nursing School Dismissal

This past week I was dismissed from Nursing School at a 4 year state college. I had a test one day last week, and had my cell phone on me. I totally forgot I had it on me because my mother was ill, and she ended up getting lifelined that night and put on a ventilator. I since then have been dismissed for academic dishonesty. I have no clue what to do or where to go. It seems like everything happens together. Do any of you know if I can transfer to a community college or something like that? I am stressed to the max, and I only had two semesters left. Someone please help.

Did you speak with the dean about this? Your situation was an unusual one, and it would be worth your time to pursue all of your options. Ask specifically what you would need to do in order to be re-enrolled in the future.

Ask the Dean in a letter for an exception to your dismissal and to be permitted to continue if you can prove your mom was in the hospital.

Wait…did you have it out at the test or it was in your jacket and it went off or what? More details. Sounds like extenuating circumstances. Had you been warned before?

I’ve failed a class in the past, and my phone went off during the test. As soon as I pulled it out the instructor saw me, and took my phone and brought me up to the adviser of nursing. They failed me, and now I’m kicked out of the nursing program.

What school is this and how far in to the program where you? If you were close to graduating I doubt you can transfer and there is that mark on your record…

I was at Indiana State, and I had two semesters left after this one.

Ok. Nursing schools are insanely tough about stuff like that. Once you fail a class its like walking on glass. With that said…did they even listen to you about your mom being in ICU?

I highly doubt you can transfer to a community college if you only need 30 credits to graduate but I suppose you can try.

FWIW although it is a tough break you did fail once before. You were already granted a second chance, not sure if you can find your third.
