Is the nursing program easier or harder to get into than the other schools of the university for incoming freshmen?
Easier. I am the parent of an incoming freshman nursing student. During sessions at the nursing school they said the middle 50 percent is 26-30 for nursing. Compare that with the rest of UMICH.
It is slightly easier but it is a great program.
It is a wonderful program! There is a brand new state of the art nursing building opening for fall 2015. My daughter chose Umich because nursing is not THE elite program like it is at lesser schools. The difference was put to us this way. At X school where the nursing program is the elite one for that school the nursing students are almost the only ones in the library all day on Sunday. The other students attend pro football games in that city. At U mich almost everyone is in the library on Sundays ( after enjoying college ball on Saturday)
htmlad, the school of Nursing is easier to get into from an academic standpoint, but they read the essay very carefully to gauge how serious the student is about nursing.
The Nursing school may be slightly easier to get in, but the work load is significantly heavier -it is about the same as engineering.
hahaha
If you know a lot about the program you might as well elaborate. Surely the nature of the work is very different from engineering, even if the hours required for mastery are the same.
I would not do any orange to apple comparison on this topic. I have a former nurse and an engineering student at home.
