does anyone know some of the easiest and hardest nursing programs to get into in Michigan, thanks
The easiest nursing schools to be admitted to have the highest drop out rates and the lowest NCLEX pass rates.
Do you know the aceeptance rate to saginaw valley nursing program
They answer that on the FAQ page for the Nursing BSN. And consider that number a very optimistic one since at Saginaw when you apply you press a button that tells you if your GPA is competitive. If not I doubt many end up applying anyway, so they aren’t counted in the number they post.
I would not recommend this school if you have the choice of a direct-admit school.
At Saginaw you can be there for 2 years and if you don’t meet the requirements then you have nothing but 2 years of college, not an employable degree. Instead of a 4-year program at one school you could get an RN at a community college (an ADN degree) and then go to one of the RN->BSN programs. Look for a good NCLEX pass rate at the CC. With just 2 years of college and an RN you have an employable degree, although options are better with a BSN and some hospitals now require it.
I know nurses that have done this route and they did fine. RN->BSN programs tend to be easier to get into. See http://www.rntobsn.org/states/michigan/ for a list. Many are part-time and/or online, but some are campus based. In fact Saginaw has one.
The downside is you don’t get the full college life experience, and you won’t be at the same college all 4 years. But if you really want to be a nurse it may be a better path. If you don’t have volunteer or work experience already so that you really know nursing is right for you then forget everything I posted above.
