I have a question about the nursing school at Penn State and what some alternative options might be. My girlfriend is a student at the University of Towson in Baltimore Maryland and wants to transfer to Penn State, University Park as a nurse. However, we discovered that Penn State does not allow external junior nursing transfers. She is in a sticky situation with moving her permanent address and might need to transfer.
What might her options be? Could she take another path with a similar result at Penn State? Are there other public schools in Pennsylvania that might allow this kind of transfer?
The bachelor of science in Nursing (NURS):
(Start and Finish at: Altoona, Erie, Fayette, Mont Alto, or Worthington Scranton);
Available for transfer admission. Nursing requires a cumulative college GPA of 3.40 or higher in addition to 4 credits in anatomy and 3 credits physiology. Course work must be completed with a grade of C or higher.
Doesn’t say whether that is junior-level or not, though. Usually you’re only allowed to transfer to a branch if you have less than two years of college credit. She could call and ask about it.
I don’t know what you’re disputing, since your link says the same thing:
“Transfer students will be considered for the B.S. program at Altoona, Behrend (Erie), Fayette, Mont Alto, and Worthington Scranton campuses. Interested students should apply through the Undergraduate Admissions Office for consideration.”
Right, but that’s not what she wants to do. I guess I’m looking more for alternative options for majors and fields similar to nursing at University Park, or other options of schools within PA. She doesn’t care tremendously about the reputation of the school, but she would rather go to UP. I’m sorry that I am not being clear. I appreciate any help I can get.
