Nursing

Hi I have a 3.9 GPA and a 26 on my ACT. I am also volunteering at a hospital thins summer and Special Olympics. I have an A in AP psych and A&P if that matters. what are the chances I could get into the nursing program? is there a set acceptance rate? And how manny people apply for it? Thanks

OP, this is a good question to ask the office of admissions personnel. I’d love to know what you find out.

Hi! I am going to be a freshman in the nursing program in the fall and just recently came back from my pittstart. At pittstart, the associate dean of nursing said that the average SAT was around 1350 for my class. They also said the acceptance rate was around 10%, they turned away more than 1000 people for about 110 spots. I personally had a 3.9 GPA too, but I got a 32 on my ACT. Based on what they said, I would try to improve on your test scores. Good luck!!!

wow, those are some intimidating stats, liv. nursing is a great career, but hospital nursing is tough work. I wish you the best in your education and career. We need more good nurses. I hope you become one of them. My D will be joining your class this year, but not in nursing.

When pressed our nursing session guide last week conceded that the admission rate is NOT as low as it sounds. The 1000 applicants were not 90 precent “turned away” for 110 spots. For those spots Pitt admitted about 330 students (a 33 percent acceptance rate) to fill their class of 110. Also the 1350 was admitted students avearge, not the SAT average of those who ended up going (it was lower).

that helps, Jara, I think, but it’s still an impressive 110 students. OP, have you spoken to Pitt admissions about the 26?
