does anyone know how selective the nursing school is? also does having a sibling at Penn increase you chances

Can’t answer the sibling portion of your question, but UP has the only IVY league Nursing program and is considered one of the top 3 (many consider it #1) in the country.

The good new? Many people consider the School of Nursing at Penn the easiest of the UP colleges to get accepted.

In recent years, the acceptance rate for the Nursing School has been around 25% (compared to Penn’s overall acceptance rate of around 17%).

Technically, a sibling at Penn does not make you a “legacy,” but if mentioned in your application, it can show that you have increased familiarity with the school.

do you think ed would really make an impact

“do you think ed would really make an impact”

I do. I’ve read somewhere that you are twice as likely to be admitted ED as RD. With Penn’s low admittance numbers, I’d definitely go with ED (and my daughter is). Also, the nursing program is very small. There may not be any openings by January 1st.

My d is a junior in Nursing - if I remember right her year around half the class of 100 was accepted ED so it does make a difference. If you get a chance to visit make sure you book an appointment with the Nursing office and speak with Marianne Smith. It will give you great insight on the program and what they are looking for in applicants. You need to show that you are a good fit in some way - health care experience, community service, passion for global health standards, etc.

yea do ED rates are very high last yr 72 applied ED they accepted 32

I was wondering how high your science grades and scores have to be. All of my school courses are honors but I get B’s in science. I’ve done 2 johns hopkins cty biology programs and I worked as a nurse’s aid this summer, but I’m still worried about the B’s in science.
I’m also planning on applying early decision. I read stats for the nursing college that said the acceptance rate is around 40%.
