hey all.
as compared to other ivy/top-tier US schools, how difficult is it to get into NUS?
what is the admission-rate there? and approximately, how many indians get into NUS every year?
also, as for the SAT scores, their website states that indians dont need to take it. is it still recommended?

I have no clue about the selectivity of the school; regarding SAT though, yes, it does tip the scales in your favor if you have good scores in the bag.

AFAIK, my friends in India tell me that admissions to NUS are based heavily on your 12th grade board results. Much the same as university admissions in India. As for the cut-off, I remember the percentage to be around >95%.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

^Second that. At least 95% they say.

getting into NUS is tough. not only your boards % matter but also your co-curricular activities… if u have say 93% in boards and u have a decent rank in IIT-JEE and AIEEE, you are considered a strong contender.

even i’ve applied for NTU and NUS this year.

Fingers crossed…

Scored 96% in 12th CBSE.
Head boy of my school.
Editor of the School Magazine.
A 2050 in SAT’s.
105 in TOEFL.
9.6(94%) Cgpa in 10th CBSE.

What do you think my chances are?
Applied to NUS for Economics Majors

^ High. (10 char)

Hey!
I got 90.2 % in my class 12 CBSE boards. I want to study psychology in faculty of social sciences. What do you think is my chance at getting in??

ok guys…i have 95.4% in XII cbse and 95.4% again in X icse
got 0.1 percentile certificate in chem from cbse and scholarship for higher education by ministry of science and technology, govt of india
do i hold chances of getting into nus or ntu?

I score 93% in 12th and I want to join NUS for psychology. Do you think I have any chance?? Did u get an email referring to your admission status??

Hey guys! I’m an Indian-born Singaporean and I have completed all of my school education here (giving my board exams or A Levels as they call it here) next year. To gain entrance into either NTU or NUS there’s an entrance criteria. The selection is based on university rank points (90 is the maximum score). Points are allocated by taking 3 A Level (H2 level) and 1 AS Level subject (H1) and Project Work (H1 also). From what I know by talking to seniors, the FASS mostly consists of students who are average, some are as high as AAAA (90 points) or some even as bad as CBBC. Plus if you want to take a scholarship, students are required to undertake a bond for 4 years (not worth it…my brother took a local scholarship and is still regretting, even though it has less rigorous regulations) . I don’t really have that much of an idea on how good Indian colleges are, but given the option between US universities or NUS/NTU I’d rather choose US universities.

Hello everyone !
I’m and Indian student looking for admission in NUS. I gave my SAT on December 1 and unfortunately scored only 1800 (studied for like 3 days only, BIG Mistake !). I have also taken the TOEFL and have registered for SAT Maths Level 2, Physics and Chemistry for Jan 26. I have to score a perfect 800 in physics and maths 2 so as to compensate for SAT I, what books would be recommended for preparation. One more question, do I mention my SAT I score in the application or just the TOEFL and SAT 2.
I attained 9.4 CGPA (90%) in 10th Grade.

In NUS, for ISC/CBSE students
Engineering cut off ~ 97%
Economics/Business ~ 95%
Sciences ~ 95%

If you have a International Olympiad medal, you get automatic admission( *conditional ) & if you have a national olympiad medal, your chances increase. They don’t care much for other extra curricular activities ( unless of course, you’ve invented something/etc. ). A good JEE rank also increases your chances. SATs are not important but they just help to differentiate between two equally qualified applicants!!

Sources : School seniors & friends ( who got accepted & rejected ).

I got 10 cgpa in class 10th and
I got rank 3 in NFO, and rank 36international in IFLO.
Do i have a chance in getting into NUS

Well…I have a 10 cgpa in class 10 and I am about to take the sat in a few days… currently I am in standard 12 … and hope to get atleast 96% what are my chances to get into nus? I want to do mech.
.If I have a very good sat score do I have a better chance?I have a lot of extracurriculars to be listed too does it matter? If so … does it increase my chances?

What about architecture(NUS)? Heard that there’s an entrance exam…But it’s already June! Also, which subject marks do they consider? Please help.

Ok, so I need some opinions…

I scored 93.4%(overall) in my 12th boards
However the percentage dropped because of 83 in chem. My other marks :-
Phy 98
Electricity & Electronics 99
Math 95
Eng 92

Now what I need to know is how NUS/NTU evaluate our marks. Do they just take overall percentages and create a merit list or do they evaluate our marks based on the course we’ve chosen.
If the latter’s the case and since I’ve applied for Electrical Engg as my first choice will they give more weightage to the relevant subjects (Phy, Electronics & Math) and give me some leeway on Chem??

Also I’ve applied for a revaluation of my Chemistry and English marks, but I doubt I will receive them before early July at the least. Does anyone know the decision appeal deadlines??

Thanks!

awesome marks rishav :)

^ Thanks quiver :p

but Chem :/

Are you headed to Berkeley?

Rishav,
Nus visited my daughter’s school. The cut off (first round) is 393 for 4 subjects other than english. None of the students from her school qualified. Nus claims second round will be better since iit admits will drop off.
Hope ths helps.
Btw, ntu admits were out yesterday
