Class 12 (CBSE) - expecting around 90%
Grade 5 guitarist from London College of Music (done music theory + performance)
Class 10 (CBSE) CGPA - 9.6
SAT II's in January, expecting 750+ in Phy, Chem, Math Level II
Will give other entrance exams like JEE Main (AIEEE) / JEE Advanced (IIT-JEE)

I intend to pursue Computer Science Engineering from NUS or NTU.
How are my chances of getting in?

It’s difficult to chance you. If you were to get above 95% in 12th and got around the same top % in 9th, 10th and 11th, you would be a competent applicant.

It seemed ridiculous to me that NUS gives importance to high-ranked students in IIT-JEE. By the time the results of IIT-JEE roll in, NUS will have its admission decisons out. So I don’t see any advantage of IIT-JEE rank now. Even if there is importance to it, you must be in the top 100 or so to look impressive.

I don’t thing NUS and NTU give any weight to extracurriculars.

BOTTOM LINE: Try to get more than 95% in your 12th boards. GOOD LUCK!

NTU is good, not better than NUS but way better than universities in India.

All I’ll say is that I’ve never heard of anyone getting into NUS for engineering/science with less than 96% in boards(ISC/CBSE) or without a medal at an International Olympiad.
With ~94%, you’ll probably have a chance at NTU.

As hopingforbetter said - Unless its an Olympiad medal or something related to studies - NUS/NTU don’t care much for extracurriculars.

But JEE rank does matter a lot!! NUS releases decisions only after submission of board marks and by then, JEE main results should be out(atleast they used to be till 2012). But the JEE rank should be in top 1000 to be important!

But then again, no harm applying - who knows what happens in the Boards!! :)

You’re 9th,10th,11th marks don’t matter if they are >80% on average!!

I dont think so. The JEE Main(AIEEE) is out earlier and the and the JEE Advanced (IIT-JEE) is out later in 3rd/4th week of June.
I thought admission outcomes are out latest by June 2nd week?

AND, my 11th was bad (65-70% dont remember exact) cos of JEE Coaching. And the JEE Main was bad too. (Coaching didn’t help after all lmao)

I got 94.4% in 12th CBSE and 10 CGPA in 10th CBSE.
9th- 92.8%
11th- 88%
Sat 2 scores:
Math 2:780
Chem:780
Physics:710 (I know it is horrible)
What are my chances in NTU/NUS?
I have also applied for a dual degree. Do I have greater chances there?
I did give JEE Mains but the marks are horrible.

Could someone please chance me? I’ve got 90% in 10th board(ICSE) and I’m in PUC(Karnataka) now. I expect the same or higher in 12(2nd year PUC) as well. IDK if they consider SAT, but I’ve got 1960 in SAT I(which I’ll be retaking and will get more than 2100) AnD 1580 in SAT II (800 phy and 780 math l2) Thanks!

NTU is awesome. It has a brilliant campus + facilities and the huge indian population there never makes you feel homesick. However, you need to be a school topper to get in atleast 97%+

I got an aggregate of 96% from Intermediate(State board)
English aggregate 94.5%
Sat scores are horrible
Reading:520
Marhs:700
Writing:480
Do i stand a chance for any of it?
I scored 92%(ICSE) in my 10th boards; 90% (ISC) in my 11th Annual Exam; 97%(ISC) in my 12th Boards with
Eng-98 Math-98 Biology-97 Physics-94 Chemistry-95. I am a national level Athlete and Basketball player. What are my chances of being admitted to NUS or NTU?
