can anyone tell me about the BS nutrition major? like…absolutely anything.

It sounds like an interesting major, and it is not offered at my school (U of Southern California) . I am considering transferring, but I am very skeptical.

Well, what exactly would you like to know? My boyfriend is in his third year at Cal Poly for nutrition so I know a lot about it. Do you want to know about classes you would take, what the average stats for admission are, or what? Be more specific, and I'll do my best to help.

stats for admission, faculty and program satisfaction, and difficulty/rigor and competetiveness... and anything else you want to throw in there =)

For a transfer, the average gpa was a 3.2. However, I think since you'd be transferring from USC, it'll be even easier for you. If you got into USC, you'll get into Cal Poly.

As for faculty, the teachers are super easy according to my boyfriend. there always around to help you and they're really laid back. he loves it. and the program is great. he's a group called Peer Advising. he works with other students who need any type of advice involving what foods they should eat to lose weight or stay toned or just to stay healthy, what different exercise routines they should do, sex ed stuff, and anything really that'll keep you healthy. he loves that part. he likes working with others and it gives you a could idea of what your potential job could be like, if you want to become a nutritionist/dietician.

he says all the classes are super easy! he's never got an A- in any of his nutrition classes. He says they're really easy, but really fun! he actually likes everything he's doing and he actually learns A LOT! you'll learn tons of stuff and it'll all be beneficial in your job.

personally, i like the location a lot better. USC has a beautiful campus, but what could beat SLO? Seriously.. Pismo Beach?! need i say more haha i love the beach atmosphere. people are a lot more relaxed there.

i'm actually considering transferring there as well. my boyfriend and sister (as of next fall) are there. plus, i'm always there! i know tons of people and i actually prefer just the general vibe i get from the school.

also, it's very job oriented. if you don't really plan on going on to get a Master's, Cal Poly is great. they focus on getting you ready for a job. I really like their "learn by doing" motto! it's one of the reasons i'm considering transferring. although, you can go on to get a Master's obviously. i plan to, but i still really like the fact that it really helps you get job oriented.

i hope that helped a little. if you need anything else, let me know.

what's your current major at USC?

thankyou, this is VERY helpful =) I am currently a history major.
I hope you do transfer...and I think I will definitely look into it =)

i'm glad i could help. and ya, i'm definitely looking at transferring and you should do the same :)
