NY Times article- School Vouchers might not be a great thing after all.

@marvin100 (post #96) answers many questions I had. I thought vouchers would eventually leave behind the poor and the needy, by definition a large portion of the society, to fend themselves. Many, including me, would love to take a portion of our paid property tax to go to private schools. But should we?? How about vouchers for choosing where we live, maybe a gated community with its own police force and helicopters for transportation so we can cut funding for public roads and public security?

I’d like to see more thoughtful arguments for a voucher system before contacting my representative whom I voted for in the past but might not in the future. To me a great society is one with a safety net to strive for one’s best. Good public schools is a safety net.
