<p>Well, judging from the male and female teachers my Ss have had, there is no gender-linked difference in quality. Some teachers have been better than others but for wholly personal reasons. </p>
<p>Historically, professions that are male-dominated have been more prestigious. When they became female-dominated, they lost prestige and the pay also declined. This happened to secretaries and teachers.</p>
