NY Times [opinion]: The Overlooked Reason Our Health Care System Crushes Patients (gift link)

My issue with H’s Medicare B application that the worker refused to process was about a decade ago, so long before covid. No WFH at that time, just an employee who arbitrarily refused to process or notify us!

It felt like there was no supervisor nor oversight and no accountability for rogue clerks to made arbitrary and incorrect decisions.

Like nearly everything in DC, the answer is, ‘its political’.

The rogue clerk also lied and said we were sent a notice that we had submitted defective paperwork—no notice was ever received. I was just relieved he gave us back all our paperwork so H could give it to a competent clerk the next day. If he had destroyed or discarded the paperwork it would have made our life much more difficult.
