NYC Applicats

I got this in a email:

"Over the past two decades or so, we have experienced a small, but steady, decrease in the portion of our freshman class from New York City. As a result, we want more New York City students to stay in New York City and to consider attending NYU. And, being New Yorkers, we are ready to “put our money where our mouth is,” so we have waived our application fee for all September, 2008, freshman applicants who attend a high school in New York City.

Accordingly, you will receive a refund of the application fee that you paid. In a week or two, you will receive a check from NYU for $65.00.

We know that many of our students are drawn from across the country and across the globe in large measure by the chance to experience New York City as NYU students, and we believe that a good part of that experience includes actually being around New Yorkers not only on the sidewalks and public parks, but in classes, in residence halls, and on athletic teams and student clubs. New Yorkers like you!

We’re delighted that you have applied. Good luck in the application process, and have a great senior year!"

how much do you guys think its actually gonna help?

I have no idea. But the main reason i applied for NYU is to stay in NYC. Columbia is a long shot for me and the other schools just don’t appeal to me.
