NYC area

Hey guys

Do anyone know colleges with good computer science program in NYC area or 1-2 hour drive. except CUNYs, NYU and Columbia. I just have a 3hours job 2 times a week in nyc, so I need to be close. Any suggestions will be very helpful

Stony Brook?

thanks, look like a nice school. Any other ideas??

I’d look into Seton Hall. It’s technically New Jersey but it’s only 14 miles from NYC.

Rutgers- 51 minutes
Princeton 1 hour, 10 minutes
Yale 1 hour, 38 minutes
University of Pennsylvania 1 hour, 44 minutes

Hope that helps

There are probably a hundred schools offering comp sci within 2 hours of NYC. Stats? Budget? What else do you seek in a school?

Marist is known for its connection with IBM. Strong CS program.

Why no CUNYs? City College is actually pretty strong in STEM fields, and their computer science program is good. Plus it’s way cheap!

Stevens Institute of Technology and NJIT are both within an hour of NYC.

My stats: SAT ( math 770 , cr 520, writing 390), unweighted gpa is 4.0, class rank top 3%.
ECs: Basketball (captain, 2 years), Dance (8 years), Math club (captain, 5 years).
Self supporter from 12 years old, budget is about 30k for a year. Essays are very strong. Wrote about working as a travel guide after high school in dangerous Middle East countries and about lives of women over there.
Sat optional schools in this area would be very nice.
Recommendation letters are pretty nice, especially from the headmaster of the school.

Although I’m looking for a strong computer science program and close to nyc, i want an interesting college life experience, because I didn’t have a high school experience: I worked a lot, now I want to fill what I missed.

bump

In addition to schools listed above, Fordham and Manhattan College could be options. Somewhat less selective might be Pace and St. Johns.
