Hello I'm in the process of searching colleges with good programs in what I plan to study which is Business. In my searches I've come up with a couple in the NYC area that are in my range and thought I'd ask about their credibility to those who might know them.

They are: Pace Unversity, Fordham University, & CUNY Baruch.

Which of those schools, if any, would you say has the best undergraduate business program? And if I were to get an undergraduate degree from one of those, which do you think would look best and provide better job opportunities?

I've heard some things about each (such as Pace not being so good overall but their school of business being excellent and very well known.) so I'm really unsure any info or tips would be greatly appreciates!

Although I think all the schools that you mentioned are fine for business,if you are a New York resident, take Baruch and never look back. Don’t let the ranking fool you. Why?

Baruch is MUCH, MUCH less expensive than the other schools. This alone should warrant going to Baruch.

Baruch tuition and fees per year $4,600
Fordham tuition and fees per year $25,880

Difference PER YEAR without scholarships: $21,280 per year! This results in a difference of over $80,000 over the four year NOT COUNTING cost of living increases.

Baruch has a HUGE alumni base and is very established. This helps greatly in job placement and for internships.

Cache: Both Fordham and Baruch have similar Cachet, although it could be argued that Fordham might…just might …have a slightly better cachet. However , it clearly isn’t worth over $80,000 more. It doens’t have the reputation of Harvard or even NYU.

I would definitely say go with Fordham. For undergrad. business it’s really top-notch. It would give you the access to the city without having to live in a high-rise apartment, because the campus itself is really nice despite the neighborhood around it (one of the worst in the Bronx). This is assuming you’d be on the Rose Hill campus. However, looking at the Fordham site (which is pretty poorly organized) I can’t really tell if undergrad business would be at LC or RH. Anyways, when I visited a good 3/4 of the student tour guides were business majors or dual majors with liberal arts. The media industry in NYC is known to have a so-called “Fordham mafia” because so many of the people working in production, etc. graduated from Fordham; if you were interested in that side of business, that is!

in my opinion, fordhanm & baruch are equally as good. i know several professors who transfer from fordham to baruch, & vice versa. i also know students who attended both colleges who received offers from the BIG 4 firms. it’s a matter of how much you’re willing to spend on your education. & in this case, i would choose baruch over fordham.

as for pace, i know some students who transfer from pace to baruch. according to them, business classes at baruch are much more challenging & more workload than pace.
